Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
Hi I am Brenda, a little about me and my experiences:

As for my academic training, I graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology, a masters degree in counselor education and received a specialization in group dynamics. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor, license #1604, in the State of Maine and run a private practice in Orono and Bangor, Maine.
I have worked for 25 years with children, adolescents, families, adults as well as individuals and groups. While specializing in treating women and children, my experiences include providing therapeutic counseling and assessment services to women and men throughout all developmental stages of life.
Areas that I have specialized in when working with people include self esteem and personal growth; health and wellness; communication skills; parenting; LGBTQ; co-dependency and enabling; step, blended, and adopted families; anger management; stress management; assertiveness training; relaxation; meditation and mindfulness training; problem solving; body issues and health; depression; anxiety and panic issues; issues of abuse (sexual, physical, emotional); effects of trauma; coping with loss; life transitions; and issues of ageing.
I have worked in supervisory positions and received extensive training in clinical supervision. I taught collegiate courses in psychology, developmental psychology and lifespan development and led multiple workshops, seminars and training sessions.
My education and experience is important but I value a holistic approach balancing the mind, body and spirit. I studied intensely in yoga philosophy, eastern spiritual thought, and comparative religion.
I became a certified yoga teacher receiving my teacher training in Kripalu yoga at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lennox, Massachusetts. I received additional training in yoga for kids, graduating from the YogaKids program in Chicago. Further, I studied extensively in therapeutic body work, energy work, nutrition and the body as well as alternative therapies and practices.

What does all this mean? I have learned a lot and experienced a lot, a solid foundation to help support you. What I have come to believe.... a person wants someone they can connect with, someone to listen and supportively guide. Empathy, compassion and the art of listening. Simply, I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you through your difficult times.

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
Hi I am Leanne. Academically, I graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and a masters degree in counselor education. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor, license #CC1621, in the State of Maine and have a private practice in Bangor, Maine.

I received additional training in EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy as well as client directed model in treatment teams. I worked with men and women struggling with substance use, supervised an alcohol treatment program, and led several cognitive behavioral skills groups.

For over 25 years, I have worked extensively with women throughout all developmental stages and have a specialty in women’s issues.

Areas that I have specialized in when working with people include self esteem and personal growth; health and wellness; communication skills; parenting; LGBTQ; step, blended, and adopted families; anger management; stress management; assertiveness training; relaxation; meditation and mindfulness training; problem solving; body issues and health; depression; anxiety and panic issues; issues of abuse (sexual, physical, emotional); effects of trauma; coping with loss; life transitions; and issues of ageing.

Additionally, I received training in art, literature, and philosophy. Combining my psychology and counseling training with a humanistic perspective, assists in creating an easily approachable style.
My personal belief to personal growth is that we all are faced with certain challenges to provide an opportunity for us to grow and develop new perspectives, skills, and tools to better ourselves.
However, today times are hard. It is important to connect and to have someone to talk to and listen. Support for the difficult days ahead. I look forward to connecting.
